Bush Hideouts is a pristine bush camp set along the Goulburn River, nestled 12 kms from the town of Tallarook and only 80 minutes north of Melbourne. Set on our 500 acre slice of off-grid paradise is The Nest cabin designed by architect Chris Humphries with a full kitchen, dining, lounge, fantastic fireplace with sweeping 360 degree bush vistas.
Originally made for the Diggers club as an Education centre to propagate heirloom seeds, we have a forgotten garden for you to explore as you wander through the bush. Come to Bush Hideouts and simply switch off, reconnect with your loved ones and meet our many furry and feathered friends who call this landscape their home. We are located next to the Horseshoe Lagoon state forest and fauna reserve.
We have a large Wombat population and the reclusive Platypus is spotted regularly in the Lagoon and Goulburn river. Koalas sleep peacefully nearby while a battalion of Kangaroos also pass through in the mornings.
The venue is ideal for groups. We love to host events be it your yoga retreat, product launch, festival or fly fishing adventure.
The Nest accommodates a maximum of 6-8 people . You will have full access to a charming and fully equipped two storey off-grid cabin with a 15m x 15m footprint. Tents are also available if you wish to camp out in the orchard.
The cabin contains a comfortable collection of colonial and period furniture, a wood burner cooker, a fridge and an oven for your convenience.
Bathroom has 2 composting loos, 2 showers and outdoor clawfoot bath for the more adventurous bather.
Bush Hideouts is truly a place to commune with nature and reconnect with family and our furry marsupials! Although we don’t have wifi or good phone reception - you’ll be giving your tired eyes a break while you enjoy as much or as little of Hill Walking, Swimming, Fauna & Birdwatching, Cycling, Kayaking, Board Games, Picnic's, Wine tasting, Wood Chopping, Outdoor Bathing in clawfoot baths, Stargazing and well, just being.
